CANCELLED-Burlington Christmas Parade
2020 CHRISTMAS PARADE CANCELLED
It is with deep regret and sadness that we are announcing there will not be a 39th annual Christmas Parade in Burlington.
Burlington’s Christmas Parade has been cancelled.
The decision was made by the City of Burlington’s Common Council Monday evening, November 9, in a special Council meeting. City officials discussed the affirmation or cancellation of the pre-approved Special Event Application from the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce. In a vote of 5 to 3, the Council voted to cancel the Christmas Parade planned for December 4. The concerns for the public were based on COVID 19 numbers and audience density throughout the parade route.
The Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce would like to extend our apologies for the disappointment to our community. The BACC would also like to apologize for any inconvenience caused to those anticipating their participation in the event or planning to enjoy our “Frozen Fantasy Christmas” parade.
We, at the Chamber, are disappointed as well but our hearts go out to all of those who are directly or indirectly impacted by the virus. Our thoughts are especially with those who are sick, and we wish them strength and hope for a speedy and full recovery.
Our Board of Directors would like to thank our sponsors, parade participants, volunteers, Christmas Parade Committee, Parade Chair Tina Pope, and staff for their efforts and suggestions in working to keep everyone safe.
Thank you all for understanding. Please share this information.
